Why Lab Experiments Are So Important
The scenario that the subjects are given in the lab is necessarily artificial. Part of what happens is, clearly, an experiment is focused on something. But now think about who these people are - it's a highly self selected ample which may behave very differently from just an average joe on the street. When a subject has an hour or an hour and a bit to work on this experiment, for that window of time they are completely focused on it. And nat can generate some pretty artificial results.
