The Importance of Dressing Gowns
People started buying Western clothes from imported jumble, and they had absolutely no idea about fashion or what you normally wore for what occasion. So teachers would come to school thinking they looked really cool, wearing these dressing gowns. And the European's own mum had a meeting with a visiting delegation of French feminists, and she wanted to look really smart for them. But all the French women turned up in sombre grey suits while her mum was wearing what turned out to be a long red nighty. She must have thought it was some sort of glamorous evening where no idea she was wearing discarded sexy lingerie from her and some of it. Secondhand lingerie, no one wants that.
