In the United States, most of my friends are pretty far left and not religious. And they actually don't think there's anything wrong with teenagers having sex. They really think there would be something absolutely moral about them allowing their own children to have sex under their own roof. So it's a very interesting thing about the United States. What about the role of geography in this? Americans are still somewhat more mobile than people in other countries. American mobility is actually reduced over the last decades.

Joshua Coleman is a psychologist and senior fellow at the Council on Contemporary Families. He is the author of Rules of Estrangement: Why Adult Children Cut Ties and How to Heal the Conflict.
