The Complexity of the Human Body
Cortisol is a steroid hormone that we all produce, and we know that we secrete more of it into our bloodstream when we're stressed. It prepares us to fight or flee, but cortisol then also chronically wears away at the body. Inflammatory reactions where white blood cells are in attack mode because they feel like they're gonna have to face a threat break down the body. Beyond that, there are quite a number of other neurotransmitters, there are other hormones, other chemicals operating,. But it's a pretty complex set of systems, as you can imagine, because the human body is so complicated.
