The Problem With Fiscal Policy in the UK

I think this is more a matter of having new ideas in a new situation. Having one monetary policy in the UK even is hugely inappropriate because essentially the UK is two countries. And you see that as well in the eurozone, where the differences between the German economy and the Southern European economies is stark. So I think that's the problem. Whereas with taxes, you can actually massage it in a much more nuanced fashion and a much more granular fashion. But as you say, that's politics, fiscal policy is politics. I think the two have to work hand in hand. That's the kind of thing I'd love to think about in a flotation tank.
