Tactic Three: Ask Provocative Questions
Tactic three is to ask provocative questions. For example, suppose the storyteller has just told you a story about medical trauma that she went through as a girl. So what do you say to her? Your task is to be with this girl in the bathroom as she is throwing up. She's seven. And her parents don't care that she's throwing up. Can you see that? Instead of asking, was anyone with that seven year old in the bathroom? All right, that's a question. But there is a more provocative question: Who held your hair?
