The purpose of propagation is to produce yeast. We know that respiration produces significantly more ATP molecules and theoretically would provide more money in the bank for the yeast to spend on replication. The cells are growing a little bit, but is it really the best for us in terms of cell growth? And, you know, another side of that coin is, does it make the yeast more, as we talked about, physiologically tuned, to withstand some of the stressors that are introduced during fermentation.
