The first thing I actually oftentimes think about is when does this not work? What is the situation in which this would not be effective? And I think that question actually oftentimes is far more interesting than why does it work. When you're early as a startup and you don't understand your customer very, very well, it's really important to try to target different customer segments. At Microsoft, they've clearly found a way to consistently execute on new product lines and be able to sell into existing customers for them.
