We still have this belief that we need sugar in the morning to have energy. When you eat a lot of sugar, you're actually harming your mitochondria's long term ability to make energy effectively. So if you have a sweet breakfast every day of your life, over time chronic fatigue might set in. The one with no spike doesn't lead to too as much insulin release. Less of the energy is actually stored away.
