Archduke Charles and the Pro-Peace faction within the Habsburg court are vindicated as Austria's position becomes clearly untenable and their armies are nearing collapse. The Emperor reluctantly agrees to a new ceasefire with the French and sends representatives to negotiate a permanent peace treaty along the lines suggested by Napoleon.
