How to Treat Spontaneous Bacteria and Pyema
Many patients with a lot of fluid in the abdomen, AKA SIDEs have hepatic hydrothorax. There's holes between those two spaces and they just reaccumulate fluid into the pleural space. Can they get a primary bacterial and pyema because of this? Yeah, so they absolutely can. And it's basically like the thoracic equivalent of spontaneous bacterial perinitis.
