The only way we build new ideas is through from component parts. Every collaborator you deal with is bringing a different bag of leg. It's not to say that it's like magic, but one of the things that Ben Franklin did was enormous breadth of innovation. You look at somebody like that and go, wow, if I just thought of libraries, I would call my life's work done.
