Beethoven did not write a piece called the Moonlight Sonata. He composed something that he titled Piano Sonata Number 14. There was no give it a cool name to any of this. This is not Godspeed you Black Emperor, where it's instrumental music. They're titling at something so you can know what they're thinking about while they made it.
