Acute Back Pain in Clinic - Risk Stratification
The approach to this patient with acute back pain in clinic, we want to risk stratify them from a biomedical standpoint and a psychosocial standpoint so that we can get a sense of, do I need to change management now for this person? And what is their risk of progression to long-term pain and disability? Because that can also in its own way impact what we do with people. In general, the likelihood of serious systemic diseases as a cause of back pain is quite low in a modern primary care setting.
