The Importance of Fiber in the Diet
Fiber is considered one of the micro nutrients by some. We've got this notion that we have to have so much fiber in the diet for things like ease of digestion, ease of bowel movements and stuff like that. But there's a lot of contradictions with that. If you change your diet within 24 hours, you'll get a massive change in your gut microbiota. There are cases where bacteria can actually exert definite health effects because they allow certain bugs to proliferate. So having a better Gut microbiome associated with reduced diabetes risk is not surprising.
