The Importance of Positive Behavior Modification

In terms of behavior modification in humans the research shows that losses loom larger than gains and are more motivating. Negative can come with stigma as well, but when we think about using commitment devices it's a tool that we're using on ourselves. It's different than someone else slapping you or on the hand or finding you in terms of changing behavior. So I think that is an important thing to keep in mind. That said the positive rewards can be important for habituation.
