The operatic interojections here are also based on chromatic scales, like a color atura. We need a second theme though, in this movement. This is where mozart shuts the lights off. To do this, he takes us to s minor, where a descending line of syncopated arpeggios take us into the abyss. I've always struggled to decide how to perform this section. There are two basic ways to do it: A darker, more soulful, more pained way, or an agitated and desperate way.
