Getting to a Shared Third Story
When i initiate a conversation, i will tend to start from inside my own story about what's going on. So if i start the conversation within my own story, the role is not going to be appealing to you. And there's a bunch of data that suggests that the first three minutes or so of a negotiation is highly preduct of the outcome. The third story is a way to capture the issues or the topics the way that a neutral observer might.
