Self Care Is Almost Totally Absent From the Self Care Industrial Complex
The self care industrial complex is an attempt to reclaim what is ultimately I think a form of oppression for women. Women are expected to essentially have the same career aspirations and identifications as a man, but still fulfill this very idealized version of what it means to be a wife or mother. There just simply are not enough hours in the day let alone enough money for comprehensive child care.
