Gemma is a big fan of Joan Morgan's compendium of mathematical methods. She says it helps teachers to see how all these methods are essentially doing the same thing. But for pupils still trying to cement their understanding of adding, she thinks that's cognitive overload. Gemma: I think everything we do in a classroom needs to be carefully considered.
