Pedagogy of the Oppressed - Paulo Freire

Red Menace

CHAPTER

Freer's Decolonization Is Not a Metaphor

A lot of liberals who assume that these ideas can be applied outside a revolutionary or marxist context in ways that have often played out rather problematically. In the academy people often take up this text to just basically be a critique of the banking model without some broader critique of capitalism built into it and unfortunately freer's ambiguity i think can lend itself to that in a way that is a little bit frustrating and difficult to deal with. I'm going to quote briefly from a text that we'll be covering in the future which is decolonization is not a metaphor where two authors kind of summarize a critique of freer here that i think is somewhat useful and worth thinking through.
