Plato's successors wrote treatises on logical method spucippus supposedly said that unless you can enumerate all the ways one thing differs from another, you lack knowledge. But like everything else they wrote, these treatises on division and classification are lost. This is why we're dependent on aristotle's rather tendentious testimony. He mostly focuses on their theory of first principles, which was based on plato's theory about unity and multiplicity.
