I Don't Have an Effect, or the Opposite of That

If a person in the audience remembers that their parents beraded them about something or other, how likely should they think it is that their parents kind of caused that outcome through their behavior? Your great question. One way to interpret the evidence is that there isn't an effect. Another one is that there are similar probabilities of having the desired effect, or directly the opposite of the desired effect. In both cases, like, either it doesn't matter, or i'm equally likely to cause what i want, or the exact opposite. Those are all cases where it makes sense to avoid action.
