The Effects of Neglecting a Drug
A doctor who shows confidence or optimism about the patient's recovery is much more likely to see them get better than one who is unsure or pessimistic. The differences in how many patients recovered, almost double, was down to the way the doctor communicated with the patient. Why does belief cause these effects? Pain killing placi was wart because the person expects to feel a reduction in pain. This expectation causes their brain to produce its own natural pain killors which then reduced the pain. Belief that a plicible is a chimotherapy drug doesn't make the brain produce its own cimotherapy drug, and there could never be an ethical case to experiment with this.
