The Serotonin Receptor
For years drugs that increase serotonin levels or activity in the brain have also been used to treat depression. So you don't trip off Prozac, at least I didn't. Because it's a different receptor, still serotonin, but it's 2B instead of 2A. Anywho, so these classical psychedelics activate the other serotonin receptor and that is the thing that can cause this euphoria or change in perception of stuff,.
