I feel that it needs to be with focusing on one thing at a time, as you said at the start of that mic. When people decide to go on a surplus and still want to do their calisthenics, I feel that the most productive way to do it is to really focus on those compounds,. hips, pull ups, push ups, rows. Overloading those with heavier weights, using body weight exercises and all weights - throwing in isolation movements as well. What I would recommend though is not trying to do that as well as do the strength skills. They're great, but they suck when you're heavy.
