Learning Basketball From a Textbook

Basketball is a domain not content apart from the game itself. We do this sort of thing all the time in school with areas like math and science. You don't actually learn to be good at something by doing the entirety of it. The way you break down basketball into smaller skills that you need to be able to do automatically can free up your working memory for higher level aspects such as strategy and teamwork. John Woodland was getting lots and lots of intense practice of small pieces of the game pushing these athletes to the limit also getting them to train their fitness.
