The case was the first time a court had stepped in to define corporate First Amendment rights. Robert Kerr wound up writing a whole book about mobile's role in shaping free speech. He said that looking back, he thought the mobile op-eds demonstrated that corporations can participate in the dialogue and that mobile had achieved leadership. Nobody, no one else utilized the New York Times op-ed page the way mobile did.
