The Science of Subjugation and Colonization

Phrenology was a way to justify subjugation and colonization before science. Being able to sort of justify it with science was attractive, says the author. The British Empire did more and more just straight-up conquering because they needed some sort of reason to justify it. It didn't seem hateful when some doctor takes out a skull and explains to you why an Irishman is different from an Englishman Or why a Cherokee is different from a Caucasian American that doesn't seem hateful.
