A lot of people look at strength as how fast they can move a weight. But the impact that holding a heavy weight makes on the movement of the body, verses holding a lighter weight make on the body. Holdin a heavier weight actually even promotes better movement patterns with some people. If you have a really heavy weight and you go down too fast, then you don't use the elastic activating potential to rebound the way back up. And if you it's not controlled any more, and it's actually not helping you do it too slowly, then you won't get at that action either.
