The Lactate Shuttle Is Not the Bad Guy
The body is so adaptable that it actually uses the lactate produced by the muscles. That lactate is energy for other organs in the body, and potentially even other muscles. This is why, when we exercise at a high intensity, this is where a lot of our energy will come from. The only way they could study this was to take a frog muscle outside the body of the frogs,. They would stimulate it to contract, and they'd measure what would happen.
