Tapering Improves Performance in a Short Term Event

A well executed taper improves performance between one and five percent. In a competitive event that can be huge but it's not like you're gonna go from 250 FTP to 400 in two days. The shorter duration events neuromuscular power seems to be more responsive to tapering than regular training.
