Donahue: The evidence we have is very incomplete about how fixed the text was in the sixth century. We know, from various things to do with the actual language in it, that it uses mysen and greek quite often. And that it was almost certainly already information by the thirteenth century or the twelfth century. 500 years of people playing around with how should we do the bit where her seduces?
