There was never a time in British history where there was nothing but glorification and celebration of the empire. So anti-colonialism didn't arise in response to some excessively positive account of empire that was dominating, right? Because that's its false flag. It basically argues against a straw man, right? There was never that. And so what the anti-colonialists are trying to do is to suggest that they're just bringing balance to the argument, right? But they're not, right? In fact, what they're doing is disbalancing the argument entirely," he says.
