Patagonia Attracts Misfits

No responsible company can function well without a lot of different people doing things they love to do in concert with others. No one can tell you what meaningful work is, it's something that you're going to have to find out through trial and error. Patagonia attracted the disaffected by being congenially filled with other outsiders misfits. A guidance counselor at St. Paula High School told Christine Tomkins mother not to waste her money sending her daughter to college. The unmotivated and indifferent student would become Patagonia's fast learning CEO during its critical early days.
