Patagonia attracted the disaffected by being congenially filled with other outsiders misfits. A guidance counselor at St. Paula High School told Christine Tomkins mother not to waste her money sending her daughter to college. The unmotivated and indifferent student would become Patagonia's fast learning CEO during its critical early days.
