meditation doesn't clear your mind. What i es to do is settle the thoughts. Just like in a snow globe, all those snowflakes are still there. But it allows you to focus on one or two emotions, thoughts, feelings. And what helped me was when i hadn't processed that survivors guilt. I'd never talked about guilt for surviving. That never came up until i sat and meditated. It felt as though a ton of bricks had been lifted up off ymy chest and off my shoulders. Once i did feel immensely better.
