When you measure category sales and market share by usage occasion, it often becomes clear why a particular competitor is climbing. Jimmy Dean with their breakfast sausages realized that consumers weren't taking the time to cook sausages up before they went out the door in the morning. And so they said, how do we package sausage inside of something like a ready-to-go microwavable burrito or sausage breakfast sandwich that's basically heat and eat within 30 seconds and is easy to consume on the go? That was understanding the usage occasion. Why tied back to something had changed or shifted in terms of a brand's ability to meet the needs of consumer in a particular type of occasion.
