Aristotle never has the republic far from his thoughts as he writes. The poetics is a subtle response to the aesthetic theory of that dialogue. He doesn't just vaguely allude to platonist ideas, he writes with specific dialogues in mind. Next week i'm going to look at next week's fiftieth episode of the podcast.
