The Different Types of Yeast

Yeast is a fungus that grows as a single cell rather than as a mushroom. Yeasts can reproduce sexually by subdividing into two spores and then those combined with other spores. Some yeasts have multiple reproductive options including the common bakers yeast or brewers yeast that we're used to. They can also do something called budding which is where a mother's cell grows a protrusion that eventually splits off as a new yeast.
