The Benefits of High Frequency Oscillation in Pediatric Critical Illness
The patient who's deteriorating on high flow can very, very lively quick to CPAP or other forms of respiratory support. You probably don't run into harms by starting on high flow and then switching to the other more invasive interventions accordingly. This could be considered an argument for not needing urgent ICU transfer for many of these children. I'm very excited to see some of the cost analyses that will emerge from the health system level.
