What Is the Maximum Strength Period?

A lot of people probably want to skip right to max strength or muscular endurance and don't spend enough time in the transition period which is super important for just understanding how to move your body. What are some of the core exercises that we use in the max strength period? I really prefer a box step up or a split squat or something like that that's heavy over a back squat for myself.
