How to Make Track Practice More Fun

As a coach, I had to relate to people and get them to relate to the identity of being a track and field athlete. The first two or three weeks of high school track practice are the time when you're negotiating essentially with the athlete for their attention in a spring sport. So rather than create a strict like, you know, militant culture of like, you must be here, attendance is necessary, I try to create an environment where I want them to be here.
