In difficult conversations, the natural goal is to make things go my way. But you don't want your goal to be to change the other person's mind. The conversation is between two people who both have agency and value their own economy. You're also setting yourself up for goals that are really antagonistic where they're going to push back on you. And it's hard to not see the conversation as betweentween someone who's right and someone who's wrong.
