And growing up listening to hip hop and rap, was there ever a moment where we were like, oh, I should do that too?

I don't think so because, you know, I really, I grew up on Rush and The Who and Max Webster. And, you know, I wanted to be a guy with a guitar rocking out on stage. But I, you know, as he said, I also grew up on country music. I love a story song and then got totally blown away by electronic and hip hop music in my late teens. And I think what has always been a strength or an asset for me is just seeing it all as music. You know, I was never a punk guy where every other music was crap or a rock guy where every other music was crap. You know, I was always into everything and trying to figure out how to incorporate it into my own writing. You know, when I was trying to learn the guitar solo from limelight of Russia's moving pictures, I was also standing in front of the mirror and miming Howard Jones lyrics. You know, like I just had such an eclectic appreciation of music. I just, it's all I wanted to do from the first time I picked up a guitar and I liked it all.

I don't know if I'm the only non-Canadian wondering about country music in Canada. Keep in mind we Americans know very little about anything besides like the city that we live in much less like the state or the country or the world. But when I think of country music, you know, it's such a for me. It's like such a quintessential like American southern, you know, kind of art form. And, you know, I think especially of, you know, before that, I think of blues. I think of, you know, the music that came out of the culture of, you know, this country in the south. I wonder, you know, I think that Canadians often, you know, tease so many things about America.
