Broad bracketing allows you to reconsider a single temptation as a bunch of temptations. Thinking about your goals more abstractly prevents momentary lapses in self-control. Re-appraising the activities you have to do or the ones you're trying to avoid can also make it easier to apply self- control. Practicing mindfulness, allowing temptations to come and go without reacting to them can also improve your willpower.
