Adi Daa's career is based on a highly unusual ability to generate charismatic presence so intensely that a significant percentage of people, especially seekers in the 70s and 80s who would see him talk publicly would become convinced that he was God on earth. So his withdrawal from the public may have more to do with his other pretty just gift, which is criminally exploiting and abusing people. Any move off of the island would likely have resulted in high stakes legal jeopardy.
