The shady thing to me is that like I know that Dale Carnegie knows this he just doesn't say it outright. Every time I read one of these passages when he says be genuinely interested it's like he's invisibly following it with you know what I mean. It's all about giving himself plausible deniability. Fake interest and you'll have a better chance of making a sale. That's the real name of this chapter if you hold it up to the light. Tell her you care about her major. And so one of the funniest parts of the book when it's not supposed to be he tells his story.
