The Limits of Muscle Fiber Size

There's a theoretical reason to expect that eventually a single muscle fiber can get too large for it to really make sense for it to keep growing unless like capillaries per fiber goes up so it can get more oxygen to it. I think there has to be some theoretical limit for how large fibers can kind of allow themselves to get just because those diffusion distances for oxygen and carbon dioxide keep going up as well. This is another paper finding that people with greater capillary density respond better to hypertrophic training than people with lower capillary density.
