The Fear of Death Follows From the Fear of Life

Death is the only thing we can know with any certainty. It must be the compass by which we orient all of our other values and decisions. The gravity of entitlement sucks all attention inward, toward ourselves. We are so materially well off yet psychologically tormented in such shallow ways. People relinquish all responsibility, demanding that society cater to their feelings. This feels sexy and enticing for a lot of people but it's spiritual poison.
