As children, there was very little about their authentic expression that was of interest to their caregivers. The caregivers wanted an ideal version of the child that made them look good. So we learn what it is that we need to do in order to get the attention that we want. And we present it and that makes it transactional. But what do they do with all those secrets? They hide them. They hide from themselves even?
